The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tswaing has written to the Municipal Manager, Manoto Isaac Moruti, calling on him to immediately intervene and make provision so that water supply can be restored to Kopela Village after the community was left without water for a whole month.

The people of Kopela have been left stranded without water in this heatwave as the ANC in the municipality is rather consumed with their internal battles of whether to remove the Mayor and Municipal Speaker, while neglecting their responsibility of providing basic service delivery in the area.

Madeboa Section near Kopela Village is also without water, the community depends on water pumps that they themselves donate money to fix. These pumps will soon stop working as they are permanently exposed to oxygen and moisture and as a result weakening the bond of the metal itself.

Due to the lack of water services, families in the area are now resorting to buying 20 litres of water at R5 per bucket, while those who cannot afford are left without any options.

The DA has on several occasions engaged with the ANC Ward Councillor Keatlaretse Evelyn Blou, asking her to resolve this issue, however, nothing was done to resolve the problem.

It is once again clear that the ANC government does not care about the plight of poor communities but care more about their own political survival.

The DA has written to the MM asking him to intervene and ensure that water services are restored by fixing the broken water pumps without delay.

The people of Tswaing need a government that will work to uplift their lives and deliver basic service delivery such as the supply of water instead of being consumed by factional internal battle. Only a DA-led government can deliver this and build one South Africa for all.
