The ANC-run Gauteng Provincial Government will not hold its State of the Province Address (SOPA) as was scheduled for Monday 19 February 2018, as it claims it cannot do so without Parliament hosting the State of the Nation Address.

This cannot be further from the truth, as the DA-led Western Cape Provincial Government will be continuing with its SOPA on Friday this week despite the chaos caused by one man and his organization of constitutional delinquents.

It is evident that the ANC is holding the entire nation hostage while it attempts to handle President Jacob Zuma’s exit in an indecisive and a cowardly manner.

There is only one solution to end this Presidency and that is the removal of President Jacob Zuma through a motion of no confidence in Parliament.

Gauteng has already borne the brunt of the ANC’s instability since its December Conference. Paul Mashatile, MEC for Human Settlements, has not vacated his post after being elected to the top six within the ANC.

While he has done the “right thing” by his organisation and vacated the post he held in its provincial structure, he continues to be another example of a cadre that could care-less about the province’s people.

Under his watch millions of Gauteng’s residents’ cries for adequate housing have gone unanswered, and while Premier David Makhura fails in his duty to appoint a new Human Settlements MEC – they will remain in a state of limbo.

It is abundantly clear that the ANC at a national level, and here in Gauteng are one in the same.

They do not for the people whom they were elected to serve and will continue to be guided by selfish principles.

The DA will do all in its power to ensure that every person in this province is liberated of the shackles of anxiety placed on them by the ANC.

The residents of Gauteng and the people of South Africa need a total change in government, from the arrogant and selfish ANC to a caring DA that always puts the people’s interests first.
