Cosatu condemns the callous killing of the Chairperson of the Mitchell's Plain Street Committee, by what appears to be gangsters linked to crime in the area. We salute MERVYN JACOBS for his selfless service to our people in the area, we commit ourselves to take forward his ideals to rid our streets of gangsterism and violence.
Cosatu views these attacks against street committee members as an act of war against the working class. We must rise up as a nation and fight this scourge tearing apart the social fabric of our society.
We call on the police to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to find these murderers.
