The Congress of the People will name its party leadership in Bloemfontein next week after letting delegates decide the matter on a consensus basis, general secretary Charlotte Lobe said on Tuesday.
"It will not be an elective conference," Lobe told reporters at a briefing where COPE's draft policy framework was unveiled.
"The leadership will come out of the conference as part of a process of consensus."
She denied that there was a power struggle within COPE following reports of tension between the party's frontmen, former defence minister Terror Lekota and former Gauteng premier Sam Shilowa.
"Let me say from the outset that there is no tension about this.
This process is bigger than each of us individually.
"Our focus is on team of people who will take COPE to the 2009 election."
