The Congress Working Committee (CWC) of COPE met yesterday in Parliament. COPE launched its election manifesto in the Northern Cape this weekend. The election campaign has kicked off and provincial launches will happen all over the country in the next 2 week
s. All elections structures have been set up and we are finalising our candidate lists in meetings across the country.

The Congress National Committee (CNC) will meet this weekend in Johannesburg at COPE HQ to finalise these important issues, including the nomination of our mayoral candidates in key towns and cities. The CNC will also look at political matters facing the country, such as the ugly face of racism and prejudice that has once again reared its head.

Disciplinary hearings of those named by the CNC in January are continuing and the findings of these hearings will be made public in due course. Some of the hearings have already concluded and COPE awaits the findings of the independent Chair of the hearings.

Provinical task teams are hard at work in all provinces negatively affected by the factionlism unleashed in the party by certain elements. These task teams are making steady progress in building unity in the party.
