The Congress of the People has completed its candidate selection process in the Eastern Cape. With some exceptions, the process has been a fair, democratic and transparent one. Those elements who have disrupted the process in some areas and succeeded in denying some members of the party their right to stand as candidates have exposed themselves as being anarchists who do not defend the constitution. By not submitting nominations these people have robbed citizens of their rights.
It is fitting that COPE has expelled Archie Ralo and Sam Kwelita, the ring leaders of this breakaway faction who sought to destroy COPE. They have failed.
We welcome back those many members who have seen through their lies and have recommitted to build the Congress of the People. COPE nationally has supported the Task Team in its efforts to rebuild the party in the Provonce. We look forward to demonstrating the popularity of the party in the province.
