THE CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE (COPE) is shocked by reports that Mlungisi Dlamini waited 19 hours for an ambulance in Pretoria when he was in severe pain and in dire need of urgent medical attention.

The loss of Dlamini’s life and that of Mashaole Mangena who also died in Polokwane as a result of public Health bungles are regrettable.

The Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has been vocal on transforming the health sector to be more efficient but what is happening on the ground in hospitals is the opposite of what he preaches.

It is high time the Minister take complete control of the Health Department in Limpopo because we believe there is no proper government in that province.

Government must be proactive and remove these blunders before the entire country’s public health system plunges into a severe health crisis.

COPE also send it’s since condolences to the Dlamini and Mangena families.

We therefore challenge Minister Motsoaledi to prove to all South Africans that talk is not cheap after all by launching a thorough investigation into this matter and then acting against those who are found to be responsible for this negligence.
