The Congress of the People would like to go on record to express their dismay at the poor living conditions that the people living in "Blikkiesdorp", a temporary relocation area in Delft.
In the midst of allegations of mismanagement of housing allocation, assertions by City of Cape Town spokesperson Charles Cooper that Blikkiesdorp is "just another one of the Western Cape's 223 informal settlements" is a slap in the face.
The Congress of the People calls on the City of Cape Town to launch an investigation into the management of Blikkiesdorp, and to draw up a timeline for the people of Blikkiesdorp to be moved into permanent housing.
