The Congress of the People has received the resignation letter of Dr. Allan Boesak from the party and the Western Cape Legislature with regret. Dr. Boesak joined the party at it's launch in Bloemfontein in December last year and the membership of the party and the public held high hopes for his involvement in the organisation.
Obviously we do not agree with Dr. Boesak's reasons for resigning but COPE is a voluntary organisation and South Africans are free to join it or not as they choose. We wish Dr. Boesak all the best in his future endeavours.
