The Congress of the People is disturbed by reports of the President of the Republic intervening in the governance and running of Eskom. Whatever the decisions of the board of Eskom or its management, for the President to interfere in the matter of the continued leadership of the parastatal is absolutely unacceptable.

The parastatal has lurched from one crisis to another and this has become a pattern, simply a sad new episode in the soapie, "Eishkom".

With the failures in terms of allowing alternative energy generation possibilities, electricity rationing looms as the next crisis for the public to have to bear in the near future.

COPE says hands off, Mr President. This type of intereference will only worsen the crisis.
