Congress of the People (COPE) notes a call by the Tripartite Alliance for an internal investigation into politically motivated killings in KwaZulu-Natal.

COPE believes any killings that take place needs a thorough investigation by police in efforts to bring perpetrators to book.

It is our firm believe that no statutory commission will have power over the police to investigate any crime and killings as referred to by the Alliance Commission.

We can only conclude such a commission is a party, political matter that requires no interference with the police work and have therefore no powers to do anything tangible.

What it reveals is that there is recognition by the alliance that the killings maybe internally and politically motivated hence they want to investigate amongst the tripartite alliance.
