The Politically motivated killings in Kwazulu-Natal are a serious cause for concern and smack of political intolerance. The killing of IFP Councillor, Themba Xulu shows the dangers and lack of political tolerance amongst politicians and must be condemned in the strongest possible way.

This barbaric act doesn’t have a place in society and we should therefore encourage people to report those who are suspected to have had a hand in Xulu’s murder.

Police and other law enforcement agencies must riddle the cages of criminal syndicates in search of perpetrators of this heinous crime. It is clear his murder was well planned.

We wish to comfort the family of the deceased and the IFP during these tragic times. Congress of the People (COPE) strongly believes that political tolerance must be a pillar and strength of any democratic nation.

We also need to examine our justice system so that we develop proper punishment for people who participate in premeditated murders.
