Congress of the people is appalled that the City Council filled a mere 23 out of 110 posts at a Tshwane electrical depot. This dereliction of duty beggars belief.
Media reports indicate a severe staff shortage at the Nokeng Tsa Taemane local municipality’s electrical depot in Tshwane.

Furthermore, an inspection in loco by municipal councillors revealed that those working at the depot had neither internet nor telephone. They had to use their own personal phones for work purposes.

Shockingly, the depot lacked vehicles, tools, equipment and stock materials. COPE asks how employees can do their work under such trying circumstances.

The municipality’s inept administration and planning violates the constitutional right of residents to get decent service delivery.

The Mayor must explain to Tshwane residents why the vacant posts were not filled and why employees lack essential tools and vehicles to undertake their duties.

Clearly, the focus of the ruling clique is so much on self-interest that it distracts its members from faithfully serving the interests of the voters.

The Mayor should do the honourable thing and resign with immediate effect. He is unequal to the task of leading the city.

Voters ought to create a voters’ coalition so that they as voters hold the whip hand and compel politicians to do their bidding.
