In terms of item 2(3) (b) (i) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (No. 68 of 2008) (“the Act”), the Minister of Trade and Industry on request from the Minister responsible for local government matters may defer the application of the Act to any particular municipality other that a high capacity municipality as defined in terms of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act No. 56 of 2003) until further notice.
