To amend the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases 1993, soas to define, substitute or delete certain expressions; to transfer certain functions tothe Director-General and to make the Director-General accountable for thecompensation fund; to allow the Director-General to delegate his or her powers; toalter the commissioner’s functions; to provide for the payment of compensation toassessor’s dependants; to further regulate the composition of the CompensationBoard; to remove the duty on employers to provide first aid; to further regulate theassessment of employers; to provide for the payment of interest on overdueassessments; to further regulate objections and appeals against decisions of theDirector-General; to provide that the Minister must consult with the Compensa-tion Board before he or she makes regulations: to further regulate the manner inwhich compensation is calculated: and to effect certain textual alterations; and toprovide for matters connected therewith.
