During the second CEO Insomnia Index, 30 CEOs completed the survey in a period of 3.5 weeks. This edition of the Insomnia Index presents interesting dynamics in terms of CEO perceptions of opportunity drivers for sustainable growth and hurdles needing to be cleared. Innovation clearly topped the opportunity rankings, moving up from its previously held fourth position, while talent availability emerged as the greatest challenge facing business leaders.

Collaboration and leadership rivalled one another for second and third place in the opportunity rankings, followed by closely associated themes of globalisation and market access. CEOs continue to tackle regulatory challenges. Previously rated as the top challenge, this theme is ranked at number two, with the proposed Protection of State Information Bill surfacing as a prospective issue in third place. High energy costs and constrained supply once again featured as a major challenge.
