The Board of Inquiry investigating allegations of misconduct against suspended National Police Commissioner General Bheki Cele is currently completing the process on the report of its findings.

Bongiwe Gambu, spokesperson for the Board of Inquiry, said the board has been busy since Judge Jake Moloi declared the public hearings over on April 5.

“They have been going through the hundreds of pages in documents that were submitted including testimonies, transcripts, arguments from both sides as well as public submissions,” she said.

Once the relevant process has been completed, the board will prepare a report to be submitted to President Jacob Zuma, Cele himself, Parliament, the National Council of Provinces, as well as the Cabinet committees in charge of safety and security affairs.

The board was established by Zuma in November 2011 to investigate amongst others, Cele’s fitness to hold office and allegations of misconduct relating to the two leases for office space for police.

The public has been encouraged to make submissions in response to the Terms of Reference of the board.

Submissions can be made to: etsatsi@justice.gov.za or by hand delivery to 8th Floor, Rules Board, Die Meent Building, 227 corner of Andries and Pretorius Streets Pretoria.
