Bowman Gilfillan Africa Group’s (BGAG) expansion and development in Africa continues with the recent announcement of four new appointments in their Kenya office (Coulson Harney) and one in their Tanzania office (East African Law Chambers). Evans Monari, senior litigation counsel and partner, Anthony Njogu and Sean Omondi, both litigation partners, and Njau Mukuha, corporate/commercial partner, will officially join the Kenya office on 1 October, while Brian Kangetta will join as Head of Tax in Tanzania on 6 October.

“It is with pleasure that we announce these new appointments”, said Richard Harney, Managing Partner, Kenya. “All bring with them extensive legal experience and established reputations in their areas of practice and share the group’s vision of being the leading pan-African legal practice.”

Jonathan Lang, Head of Africa at BGAG, added that these appointments serve to strengthen the already highly praised lawyers in both Kenya and Tanzania. “With their combined experience and diverse specialties, clients will continue to receive excellent local and multi-jurisdictional advice from this expanded team.”

The group has offices in six countries in Africa – Gaborone Botswana, Nairobi Kenya, Antananarivo Madagascar, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban South Africa, Dar es Salaam Tanzania, and Kampala Uganda. It also has a "best friends" relationship with leading Nigerian firm, Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie which has offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Supported by a clear vision, sustainable strategy and dynamic people, Lang says “BGAG is well placed to continue growing in the increasingly competitive African legal market.

“In executing our strategic intent to be a leading pan-African legal practice focused on corporate, commercial and financial law, Bowman Gilfillan has taken a unique approach by being the only South African firm with fully integrated offices on the rest of the continent. As a result, we’re able to deliver cross-border legal services of the highest standard across Africa.”
