The Black Management Forum (BMF) is standing firm on its commitment to "deracialise" the country's economy, it said on Friday.

The organisation would "champion the cause of ensuring that previously disadvantaged people play a pivotal role in the mainstream economy", BMF president Jimmy Manyi said in a statement.

"We view this as an important economic revolution to ensure that total freedom is delivered to the majority of our country's population."

The BMF would make a concerted effort to ensure basic values and principles were well understood by South Africans in general and BMF members in particular.

Concerning the debate on labour brokers, BMF deputy president Tembakazi Mnyaka said the organisation had thrown its weight behind public hearings on the topic.

"We will continue consultations with policy makers and make inputs into policies at all levels."

The BMF's leadership at branch, provincial and national level had recently met to discuss its strategy for the next three years. It had chosen to focus on economic transformation in the financial service sector, mining, manufacturing and agriculture.

The BMF re-iterated its earlier position that the central mandate of State-owned enterprises was developmental.
