Eastern Cape Premier welcomes all the participants of the Coca-Cola Majola cricket week
The Premier and the entire government of the Eastern Cape extend a warm welcome to all the participants and visitors to the Khaya Majola Coca-Cola Cricket Week.
You are coming in our province when we are in our second year of the Provincial Growth and Development (PGDP), which seeks to make Eastern Cape by 2014 a compelling place to live, work and invest. For us to be chosen as the host province is a concrete declaration of confidence by the nation that not only is our province is a Mecca of sports development but also our plans for growth and development are sound.
Eastern Cape has the fastest growing economy in the country and is endowed with a wealth of diversity. It offers a complete tourism experience, made possible by the wildlife, scenic beauty, warm hospitality, heritage and adventure.
In the same vein, myself and MEC for Sports, Arts and culture would like to congratulate Border Cricket for the work they have done over years of youth development. We are extremely proud of you to be hosting this prestigious tournament. We trust that you will manage the event with extreme passion and cutting edge professionalism.
With reference to 42 matches that will be played at various cricket venues in East London. To the 16 teams, we wish you a happy and rewarding experience in East London. I invite you to use this opportunity to explore the hidden secrets of the Eastern Cape and to build everlasting friendships as you enjoy this exciting and memorable occasion with us.
To the match officials, umpires, scorers and our local media, I thank you for the invaluable role you all play in making cricket the great game it is today.
