Ladies and gentlemen
Monyeni Project, premier destination

The launch of the Monyeni Project as the premier destination for residents, holiday makers and tourists is a firm indication that investors have a belief in our province as a place where they will continue getting value for their money. This will be the Eastern Cape's first fully planned community which caters for a well integrated and sustainable environment including two golf courses and vehicular and pedestrian linkages.

Benefits of the Monyeni Project We believe that this development is beneficial to the Eastern province and local areas in the following ways:

* It will meet the high demand for housing within the middle income market sector in the area and assist in the job creation and service delivery for the Eastern Cape province. Among the 2 600 jobs it will provide per year, the beneficiaries include youth and women entrepreneurs from the Eastern Cape province.

* Monyeni will boost the already strong tourism market within the region and will promote the area as the holistic tourism and residential destination in South Africa and as the eminent destination in South Africa, where residents, guests and tourists will be able to enjoy the beach, the retail therapy and overall pampering of the town, the game of golf, the natural bush and veldt, the fauna of the area and hospitality of the Eastern Cape people.

* By creating two world class 18-hole championship golf courses to the area, it will attract golf tourism from the Garden Route up towards East London.

Conclusion

The Eastern Cape communities within the South African context fought apartheid, orchestrated its demise, were oppressed but transcended their oppression and still prevailed. This should be seen as an intrinsic part of the economic vanguard in accomplishing organic changes within the economy of the province.

I have pleasure in officially launching the Monyeni Project.

I thank you.
