Auditor-General Terrence Nombembe is sending a team to Parliament on Friday to help the institution sharpen its oversight role.
Discussion will be held with Parliament's committee of chairpersons and all members of certain committees about how committees can use audit and other reports produced by the Auditor-General to sharpen their oversight of government.
The discussion will be centred around the mandate of the Auditor-General and how it executes its responsibilities, Parliament said in a statement.
Audit reports had traditionally been used mainly by Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (Scopa), but the aim was to encourage other committees also to tap into these reports more regularly to enable closer scrutiny of government activities.
Committee chairpersons and committee whips, political party whips, National Council of Provinces whips and the chairpersons of all provincial public accounts committees would also participate in Friday's discussion.
Also on the agenda were the recent audits reports of provincial departments and local government.
Only a part of the proceedings would be open to the media.
