I, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries hereby publish a notice for general information that, following the public consultation process through General Notice 168 of 2011 , published in Government Gazette No. 34140 of 22 March 2011, the ·importation of live cloven hoofed animals from countries or zones not recognized as free from Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) by the World Organization for Animal Health (OlE) is not allowed into the Republic of South Africa. This decision serves to protect the livestock industry and other related industries in South Africa against the introduction of animal diseases into the Republic of South Africa.
