Provinces of the ANC Youth League have responded to the heckling of the ANC
YL President Julius Malema by some delegates at the SACP 2nd Special
Congress. Consistent with the ANC Youth League internal democratic
principles where we allow our structures to voice their opinions on whatever
issue, we below release all statements of the ANC YL Provinces and contact
details of the respective Provincial leaders. The statements are original
and reflect the perspectives of ANC YL Provinces.
WESTERN CAPE:
WESTERN CAPE STATEMENT ON THE BOOING OF OUR PRESIDENT by SACP COMRADES AT
THEIR SPECIAL CONGRESS IN LIMPOMPO We have noted the booing of our President
with disgust and disappointment at the special congress of the SACP in
Limpopo. Anarchic activities like these should not be condoned in our
movement. For cde Jeremy Cronin to say on national television that he hopes
Malema has learnt a lesson was utter disgust, and portrays that he was part
of the plan to boo our President. For Jeremy Cronin, as a long serving
member of our movement, it is important to always provide leadership and
direction where it is needed than clapping hands for anarchy because it
might happen to him one day. If this hullabaloo is about the Youth League
call on Nationalisation rest assured we will not retreat and will never be
intimidated by any individual. It was in 2007 when the SACP called for the
re-nationalisation of *SASOL *and *MITTA STEEL* claiming that it was an
immediate programme to lead industrialistion and that this will ensure that
the production of energy, iron ore and steel is performed in a sustainable
environment friendly and developmental way not for narrow Elite
profiteering. Perhaps we should ask those who are posing as experts on the
communist doctrines of MARX, LENIN and ENGELS what happened.
You must understand that our policy on Nationalisation was set out in the
Freedom Charter as far back as 1955. The nationalisation of the mines, the
financial institutions and monopoly industries is the fundamental policy of
the ANC and inconceivable that we will ever change this policy. What we want
is an equitable distribution of the wealth of our country and
nationalisation must just be understood to be strategy. We don't know why
people are so agitated about our call for NATIONALISATION. We call on the
SACP to stop convening forums posing as constitutional meetings only to find
out they are meant to insult the leadership of the ANC. TANDI
MAHAMBEHLALA ANCYL
PROVINCIAL SECRETARY, WESTERN CAPE
NORTHERN CAPE:
NORTHERN CAPE STATEMENT ON THE BOOING OF ANC YL PRESIDENT JULIUS MALEMA AT THE SACP CONGRESS:
The ANCYL in the Northern Cape Province is highly disappointed and disgusted
at the calculated and premeditated anti-ANC behaviour of the delegates at
the South African Communist Party (SACP) special congress held in Polokwane.
The manner in which they attempted to humiliate our hard working ANCYL
President Cde Julius Malema and Member of the ANC NEC Cde Billy Masetlha
leaves much to be desired and it is a clear indication of how the SACP view
our relation to them as the ANCYL and the ANC. The unfounded insult that
seeks to win an open petty political debate with name calling and political
character assassination is regrettable and reactionary in nature.
The statement by the SACP General Secretary and YCL National Secretary is
indicative of the premeditated motive on their part to invite the ANCYL
President and subject him to anti-revolutionary humiliation, which is aimed
at intimidating the ANCYL from articulating its stand point as an
organisation.
The ANCYL members in the Northern Cape Province, will defend the ANC and
continue to progressively support without reservation the commitment to the
good work that Cde Julius Malema and the entire ANC and ANCYL NEC is doing,
in order to advance the current trajectory of the National Democratic
Revolution (NDR) towards the creation of a better life for all our people.
The ANC is a broad church and it accommodates all classes towards the NDR
and its objectives of reaching a National Democratic Society. We are the
disciplined forces of the left and we don't need fake and opportunistic
careerist to anoint out loyalty to the poor and the marginalised groups of
our society.
We are clear that Cde Julius Malema is committed to all the principles of
the ANC and in no uncertain terms will he push the agenda of the Capitalist
above that one of the working class. Anybody or group attempting to
associate him with Capitalist agenda is telling lies and hell-bent on
destroying him and the ANCYL.
We welcome the decision of the ANCYL NEC to engage the SACP, because we
strongly believe that amongst the leadership of the SACP at least majority
of them are sober and not all of them are power mongers who will do anything
to hold on to power despite the constitutional principles.
Cde Julius as genuine revolutionary led by example, *unlike the fake lovers
for red wines* has never opportunistically lobbied us as ANCYL Provinces to
amend the constitution to support him to go to parliament. He respects the
decision of the conference that the ANCYL President should be full-time in
office, not a special arrangement of Presidential special treatment to
satisfy his love for power and money.
He is a true revolutionary (a dedicated scholar of Marxism -Leninism) and
this is indicative to the fact he was never in his entire life accused of
fraudulently receiving money on behalf of the ANCYL from dubious agents of
capitalism.
We will not keep quite in the spirit of protecting the tripartite alliance
whilst some hooligans and fakes who masquerade as leader mobilise stupid
delegates to insult our ANC NEC and ANCYL members.
We also take strong exception to the unbecoming conduct of Cde Gwede
Mantashe in his capacity as SACP Chairperson for failing to call the rented
hooligans when they insulted our leaders with impunity, his conduct is
suspect of someone who rejoiced at this anti-communist behaviour. He should
have reprimanded those well briefed hooligans and dogs so that their masters
should come out or is it a case of these are my dogs I can speak against any
wrong they do.
As for the YCL National Secretary stupid lies and deliberate attempt to
belittle our ANCYL President that he walked out of the conference because he
is afraid of debates, we are not surprise because he is satisfying his maker
as leader. He is equally guilty of undermining the constitution of the YCL,
because it also dictates that the YCL General Secretary should be a
full-time position.
We humbly wish to warn these rented hooligans and dogs and their masters
that we will defend the ANCYL leadership and ANC NEC with our lives, even if
it makes kicking this unbecoming behaviour out of them we will do that.
No amount of childish insult will deter us from raising debates in the ANC.
We are serious that anyone who doesn't support nationalisation is not fit to
lead the ANC. We will meet in 2012.
We are also happy that our ANCYL President took a right decision to walk out
of this conference because this conference is about satisfying an individual
thirst for power.
We shall never be intimidated by opportunistic careerist.

FREE STATE
ANC Youth League Free State
ANC Youth League in Defence of its President against the onslaught from the SACP's Drum Majorettes
The ANC Youth League in the Free State has been observing with keen interest
the developments surrounding the posture which deliberately seeks to isolate
the President of the ANC Youth League as irresponsible leader.
The debates on African Leadership and matters of Economic transformation
must be located within the context of the ongoing transformation agenda led
by the African National Congress through the elaborations of its strategy
and tactics and Freedom Charter.
The ANC Youth League as definite body of opinion in the African National
Congress has got every right to enter into a debate with anybody especially
when issues are discussed in the public domain because we remain the
mouthpiece of South Africa's youth.
Therefore, it could not have been right to suggest that whatever that the
President of the Youth League had raised with regard to individuals
masquerading as genuine and legitimate working class leadership can only be
associated with the General Secretary of the SACP without a proper analysis
of the current political situation in the country, and locate the vanguard
role of the SACP in the ongoing National Democratic Revolution.
We view the attempts of singling out and humiliating the the ANCYL President
in the public discourse and within the MDM structures as an onslaught whose
proponents have started to unmasked themselves. A booing to our President is
an expression of personalizing issues, a confirmation of opportunism in
advancing agenda of "Julius Must Go" campaign.
The ANC Youth League in the Free State remains solid and united behind the
Presidency of Julius Malema and therefore any attempts to distabilise his
leadership from within and outside will be crushed with no mercy.
The 2007 National Conference of the ANC laid a firm foundation for the
resuscitation of open, frank, robust and democratic debates in the
movement. On the same breadth the same Limpopo conference of the ANC and
subsequently the November 2009 Alliance summit reaffirmed the role and
centrality of the Alliance.
The ANC President Cde Jacob Zuma when addressing the NEC as well as the
Alliance Political Council re-affirmed the character of our organisation,
the common understanding of the character of the Alliance and broader MDM
structures as underpinned by frank, honest and democratic debate. He
expressed: - " Debate is not restricted to the ANC. Within an among its
partners there has long been a culture of debate. For many decades the
Alliance partners have sought to influence the thinking of each other, and
have made themselves open to influence. This has been done in the
understanding that the correctness of any decision can only be enhanced by
exposure to a range of different perspective'.
It is for those reasons that the Youth League in the Free State expresses
its shock and amazement by the conduct displayed by the delegates at the
Special National Conference of the South African Communist Party, especially
directed at ANC leaders in particular our president, Julius Malema
It is out of this understanding that we note the failure of the SACP to
champion this tradition and culture. Instead to reduce itself to the
behaviour of unruly soccer fans against the ANC leadership deployed to this
important gathering. Part of our disappointment stems from the failure of
the ANC Secretary General to defend the ANC deployees to Conference, in
particular our President.
We expect that the Party must be the vanguard that equips the working class
with the necessary ideological ability to interpret the world and determine
its responses to conjectural challenges. Critical to this task is to
engender intellectual and ideological debates within the MDM structures.
esp. in the Alliance so as to better understand the nature of both the
South African and the world conflict.
In our view that the unfortunate conduct is not an accident neither isolated
but part of a series of consistent and continued reactionary conduct
expressed in an attempt to opportunistically redefine the character of the
Alliance as a tit-for-tat type of a relationship.
We wish to reiterate that any campaign by anyone against the ANCYL President
will be met in the street, in the ANC structures, in the media and
importantly among the masses of our people, in particular the youth of Free
State Province. The same way the youth defended the ANC during elections by
securing its victory they will also rise in defence of the ANC even from
internal attacks. Attack to the ANCYL President, former ANCYL President and
ANC Leadership is an attack to the youth as led by the ANCYL. The same way
our forebears defended the ANC we will not fail to defend the ANC

MPUMALANGA
ANC YOUTH LEAGUE MPUMALANGA PROVINCE REFLECTION ON THE HECKLING OF OUR
PRESIDENT, CDE JULIUS MALEMA, BY THE SACP:
The ANCYL in Mpumalanga has always asserted that the SACP at its branch
level is led by renegades who have lost seats in the ANC BECs. We have never
heard anything communist in the branches and districts of the SACP except
demands for deployment on alliance basis and attacks to the ANCYL president.
Show us any branch leader of the SACP who can explain Karl Marx's Das
Kapital or Frederick Engel's The origin of the family, private property and
the state and we will show a fish riding a bicycle, or a communist driving a
BMW and drinking red wine. That is why there are elements within the SACP
who, like COPE, want the SACP to contest the elections. Any person who wants
to contest the elections against the ANC is the enemy of the ANC, in the
same manner the DA and COPE is.
The ANC has had communists before without the SACP, hence our call for the
nationalization is the progressive interpretation of the Freedom Charter and
we do not need the neo-liberal Marxists factionalising themselves as the
vanguards of the ANC to lecture us how best to interpret the Freedom
Charter. We also have it on record that at least 60% of the SACP members had
never and are not members of the ANC. These are opportunists who have
hijacked the Party of Kotane and drove it away from the imperative tasks of
the NDR.
The SACP is also populated with a leadership that has never grown within the
structures of the ANC. They rise to even the level of our NEC without having
been branch, regional or provincial leaders. In the event where you find
them in the ANC leadership collectives, they are there on some alliance
quota system. They are not worthy of the leadership positions they hold
within the ANC. They have misused the ANC's affirmative action policy to
jump on the bandwagon of the movement. Calls by some elements within the
Party to urge its members to crowd the ANC, in other words, to join the ANC
en masse, are desperate calls by the elite of the Party who still want to
keep both their seats in the ANC NEC and government ministerial positions.
Such is the desire to remain in the BMW 7 series.
We urged the ANCYL members to make sure that they are branch delegates come
the ANC NGC in September next year, Gwede Mantashe must get the same
treatment as he unleashed his minorities on our president. We must sharpen
our mobilization powers to prove that the Polokwane victory was an ANCYL
victory and no one else. Those who think they have much to do with it
without the ANCYL, let them meet the League in Mangaung, they will see bums
in every trouser. So diban'eMangaung.
