The African National Congress Youth League totally agrees with
Constitutional Law Expert Pierre De Vos on the Judgment handed down by the
Johannesburg Equality Court on the alleged hate speech compliant brought by
SONKE Gender Network. De Vos was quoted by the Citizen edition of the
16thof March 2010 that the ruling by the Equality Court did not
illustrate ANC
Youth League President's intention to incite hurt on rape victims or women
victims.

Unlike misguided elements, the ANC Youth League believes that this
observation is sober and constitutes part of the reasons why the President
of the ANC Youth League will appeal the ruling with a higher court. In more
than one occasion, ANC Youth League President has expressed consistent with
values of the ANC YL, his total commitment to the emancipation of women from
class, national and gender oppression. The ANC Youth League and its entire
leadership respect South Africa's legal and judicial systems and processes
and will work within these institutions and processes to ensure that proper
interpretation is given to the country's laws.
