The African National Congress Youth League congratulates our National
Executive Committee members Ishmael Malale and Thandile Babalwa Sunduza for
being appointed as National Assembly Portfolio Committee Chairpersons of
Higher Education and Arts & Culture respectively. The appointment of these
two diligent Members of Parliament from the ranks of the ANC Youth League
shows that the ANC has confidence in the leadership of the ANC Youth League.
Our call for generational mix is certainly becoming a practical reality in
an inspirational way, which will encourage many young people to work with
the necessary diligence in their areas of responsibility.
The ANC YL welcomes the appointment of Thandile Babalwa Sunduza as the
Chairperson for the Portofolio Committee on Arts and Culture, because she is
adequately located to advance programmes that will contribute to nation
building, whilst ensuring social cohesion. She will advance the many battles
of the Arts and Creative industry, which the ANC Youth League has raised in
various platforms. We also welcome the appointment of Ishmael Malale as the
Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education. This is a very
significant stride towards the achievement of Free and Quality Education for
poor, academically deserving students, and will intensify programmes for
transformation of higher education and training in South Africa.
Like all leaders and graduates of the ANC Youth League, these NEC members
recently appointed by the ANC will not disappoint in their responsibilities
and will work with the necessary diligence and dedication, bringing the
youthful energy characteristic of the ANC Youth League. The ANC Youth League
will also provide the necessary support to the appointed comrades and all
members of the ANC Youth League currently in the National Assembly and all
other Legislatures across the Provinces. ANC Provincial Executive Committees
should follow this example and give young people more responsibilities in
their respective Provincial Legislatures.
