The ANC Youth League convened a special National Executive Committee meeting on Sunday, the 21st of August 2011 in the ANC Head office to discuss the charges brought against the leadership of the ANC Youth League. The ANC Youth League Special NEC re-affirmed its total support for the leadership of the ANC Youth League and convinced that the issues contained in the charges are political issues, which require discussion in the structures of the ANC. The ANC Youth League Special NEC further re-affirmed that at all times, the ANC Youth League will subject itself to the discipline and policies of the ANC, and always ready to politically engage with the leadership on all critical issues that leads towards total realisation of Freedom Charter objectives.

The ANC Youth League will request an urgent meeting with the leadership of the ANC to discuss the political issues, some of which could have been discussed before charges were preferred on the leadership of the ANC Youth League. The Special NEC re-affirmed the determination to fight tirelessly and fearlessly for economic freedom in our lifetime, particularly nationalisation of Mines, expropriation without compensation and provision of free quality education for all.
