The African National Congress Youth is disgusted by the National Union of Mineworkers' leadership which recurrently misrepresents the real and genuine interests of Mineworkers and members of NUM. Now that the NUM's reactionary views on the Freedom Charter and Nationalisation of Mines are rejected and dismissed by the ANC National General Council, they resort to conservative politics of referring to the ANC Youth League as juveniles, and distorting the essence of the ANC Youth League President's address to the Nationalisation of Mines rally in Limpopo, before they even check with ANC Youth League leadership on what the President said.
The ANC Youth League is very concerned by Unions that at every given opportunity defend the interests of Mine bosses, who are the major beneficiaries of Mining in South Africa whilst workers are working under unsafe conditions and underpaid. It is now more evident that the reason why mineworkers suffer is because the NUM is on the side of Mine bosses and investors, and they concentrate in safeguarding those interests than interests of workers. The ANC Youth League is now seriously considering launching ANC Youth League branches in Mines so that workers interests are properly defended. The reality is that Mineworkers in South Africa are not properly led, because those who are supposed to lead and represent them are obsessed with their Investments in Mining.
As a matter of principle, the ANC Youth League will never take conservative politics serious. Conservative politics of referring to those you disagree with as juveniles were defeated and buried long time ago and will never succeed in the ANC.
