The African National Congress Youth League welcomes the appointment of
Steven Ngubeni as Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Development
Agency. The ANC YL is particularly satisfied with the appointment of Steven
Ngubeni because he brings with him sufficient strategic leadership
experience, adequate qualifications and understanding of youth development.
The ANC YL also bids farewell to Malose Kekana who has dedicated a
substantial part of his career life to youth development as CEO of
Umsombomvu Youth Fund and Acting CEO of the NYDA since its establishment. We
wish Malose Kekana well and convey our most sincere gratitude for his
dedication to youth development.
The new NYDA CEO, Steven Ngubeni's qualifications include the following;
- National Diploma, Town & Regional Planning, University of Johannesburg
(1998).
- Bachelor of Technology Degree, Town & Regional Planning, University of
Johannesburg (2002).
- Master of Arts Degree, Development Studies, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University (2002).
- Certificate in Project Management, University of Pretoria (2003)
- Certificate in Public Finance Management, Regeneys (2004)
- Certificate Programme in Management Development, Wits Business School
(2009)
And his work experience includes, but not limited to the following
- Emakhazeni Municipal Council, Municipal Manager (2004 to 2008)
- Victor Khaye Municipal Council, Municipal Manager (2008 to 2009)
We wish the NYDA Chief Executive Officer well and hope that he will energise
the NYDA to ensure that it achieves all its strategic missions and
objectives. The ANC YL is also proud that the NYDA Chief Executive Officer
is an adequately suitable activist of the African National Congress Youth
League with an impressive record of youth development work. We will be
watching the NYDA very closely to ensure that it mainstreams youth
development and responds to the aspirations of young people in South Africa.
