The African National Congress is concerned about the continued pronouncements and sentiments by society and oddly leadership of the ANC to isolate ANC Youth League President from the ANC Youth League. In more than 100 occasions, the ANC Youth League and its President Julius Malema have emphasized that the perspective on Nationalisation of Mines is a collective decision, accepted as a Congress resolution by the more than 4000 ANC YL delegates representing more than 2000 branches at the 23rd National Congress of the ANC Youth League in NASREC in June 2008. Resolutions of the ANC Youth League 23rd National are public documents and accessible on the ANC Youth League website.

Articulations in Parliament and in addresses abroad seem to join the media sentiment that deliberately isolates our President of the ANC YL from the organization and engage Youth League views as if they are his personal views. This to the ANC Youth League is a matter of concern because when he is said to have faltered, threats of suspensions and disciplinary actions are thrown at him as an individual. President Julius Malema speaks on behalf of the collective and is articulating ANC Youth League's official positions when he speaks about nationalisation of Mines and many other issues. He is speaking on behalf of the thousands of members of the ANC Youth League and millions of South Africa's poor and downtrodden youth.

What is currently reality is that nationalisation of Mines is on the agenda of the ANC and is discussed in its Economic Transformation Commission, will be discussed in the National General Council, Policy Conference and the National Conference in September, 2011 and 2012 respectively. The ANC Youth League once again calls on all South Africans; the continental and international communities to pay particular attention to the ANC Youth League's perspective on Nationalisation and engage the issues raised in the document and avoid isolating the leadership from the organisation. We raise this concern because as an organisation, we ascribe to the principles, values and political doctrine of organizational mandate and guidance on central political and ideological issues.

Against this background, the ANC Youth League solemnly requests the leadership of the ANC to avoid isolating President Julius Malema from the positions and resolutions of the organisation, because such has potential to mislead society.
