The African National Congress Youth League congratulates Leslie Sedibe for his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the South African Football Association (SAFA). Leslie Sedibe has the necessary composure, energy and determination to lead the development of soccer in South Africa, particularly in rural areas and townships. We believe that with the necessary support, Leslie Sedibe will significantly contribute to South Africa's hosting of a successful and jovial World Cup. Under Leslie Sedibe's leadership, SAFA should open more opportunities for young people to benefit from its programmes and the hosting of the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup.
The ANC YL also congratulates SAFA leadership for showing the necessary decisiveness in appointing an energetic, capable and suitably qualified young person to be at the helm of South African football. SAFA's appointment of Leslie Sedibe will go a long way in giving confidence and inspiration to many other young South Africans that, with the necessary capacity, all is possible.
