The African National Congress welcomes the announcement of the Cabinet reshuffle by President Jacob Zuma today, 12 June 2012. The ANC believes that this reshuffle will enhance capacity in government, particularly in the departments where there were vacancies. We also believe that the redeployment of Ministers; Comrades Lindiwe
Sisulu, Nosiviwe Maphisa-Nqakula and Sibusiso Ndebele, in new portfolios as Ministers and Comrades Jeremy Cronin and Hlengiwe Mkhize as DeputyMinisters, will assist in refocusing those departments and assist in
realizing the full potential of these comrades. We take this opportunity to welcome the new Minister of Transport, Comrade Ben Martins and the three new Deputy Ministers, Comrades Sindisiwe Chikunga, Gratitute
Magwanishe and Mduduzi Manana. We wish them well in their new responsibilities as they have a responsibility to vindicate our government as a true representative of our people.

We believe that these comrades collectively and individually have a lot to offer both in terms of experience and commitment. We believe that as the country is confronted by new challenges in service delivery and in
terms of our commitment to improve the quality of life of our people we have no choice but to continue to refine our strategies and capacity to meet our challenge.

We want to take this opportunity to welcome and congratulate the newly appointed National Commissioner of Police, Ms Victoria (Ria) Phiyega. Her experience in the public service and her knowledge of public policy and her understanding of government will come in handy in ensuring that she  rises to the challenge of her new portfolio and the need to sustain our fight against crime and corruption within the police service and the public in general. We also want to acknowledge the role and impact of the former Commissioner of Police, Comrade Bheki Cele, who during his tenure as Commissioner , we saw a decline a in crime and increased visibility of public policing.
