The people have spoken, and the Western Cape ANC accepts the results of by-elections in Atlantis and Malmesbury.

The loss of the Atlantis ward, in particular, sounds another clarion call to the Western Cape ANC to set divisions of the past aside and accelerate the organisational renewal project presently underway.

When the dust has settled on the Atlantis by-election, and Premier Zille has departed the area, the people will discover - as the people of Blikkiesdorp in Delft, among many other communities have discovered - that a better life under the DA is an illusion. The truth is that the ANC is the only organisation with the interest and capacity to provide a better life for all - including poor citizens.
