The Office of the ANC Chief
Whip strongly rejects the allegations in the Sunday Times report and the
statement of the Democratic Alliance relating to the alleged
misappropriation of funds by ANC Members of Parliament, including former
Chief Whip Mnyamezeli Booi.

The Office of the Chief Whip is not aware of
the existence of any "explosive" report documenting the misuse of Caucus
funds to the tune of R50-million or implicating the former Chief Whip in the
matter.

Those who claim that such a report exists must come forward and
submit it to either the Office of the Chief Whip or any crime fighting
agency to ensure that if indeed any corruption took place, it is dealt with
swiftly. Continuing to make such claims without any factual basis or
concrete proof deliberately undermines the integrity of our Members of
Parliament and that of the ANC. Such opportunistic politicking by the DA
should be condemned.

The ANC has over the years, including the 2008-2009
financial year, consistently received a clean audit report on the usage of
its Parliamentary funds.

Should there be any need in future for a probe
into the financial affairs of the Parliamentary Caucus by the Office of the
ANC Treasurer General, the Office of the Chief Whip will fully
cooperate.
