Parliament of the Republic of
South Africa has today, 18 March 2010,
reaffirmed its confidence in the
leadership of His Excellency President
Jacob Gedliyihlekisa Zuma.

In doing
so, Parliament, as the supreme tribunal of the people, has
thrown into the
rubbish bin the mischievous and baseless proposal for a
motion of no
confidence in the President by Cope.

In its motion of confidence in the
stewardship of the President since
coming into office in May last year,
Parliament's National Assembly
declared that it has "full confidence in the
President of South Africa
and appreciated his leadership of the government
and the nation".

Parliament's decision today reinforces our view that the
motion by Cope
was frivolous, baseless and was done merely to attain cheap
publicity.

This systematic abuse of legitimate Parliamentary processes in
pursuit
of blinding personal hatred for the President has exposed Cope as
well
as its sister party, the Democratic Alliance, as politically
bankrupt.
