ANC Chief Whip Dr Mathole Motshekga will chair a meeting of the North
West inter-parliamentary caucus on Thursday, 4 October 2012. The
inter-parliamentary caucus, which brings together ANC caucuses in the
three tiers of the legislative arm of the state, will be attended by ANC
Members of Parliament, Members of the North West Provincial Legislature,
Mayors, Speakers and Council Whips of all municipalities in the province.
ANC Provincial Chairperson and Speaker of the Legislature, Supra
Mahumapelo, will give opening remarks at the meeting.
The inter-parliamentary caucus meeting is part of ANC Caucus's
countrywide programme aimed at assessing the ANC PCOs' effectiveness,
administrative functionality, and the impact of parliamentary outreach
programmes on communities. Provinces already visited include Free State,
Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
The visits will strengthen the ANC's constituency work and ensure that
our public representatives are consistently in touch with the people,
accessible and readily intervenes in service delivery issues within
communities they serve.
The meeting is closed to the media but a formal statement will be issued
afterwards.
