The ANC in the Provincial Legislature is concerned about the legality of the process being followed by the ad-hoc committee to appoint a Public Service Commissioner. We believe that due and proper process has not been followed. The Ad-Hoc committee which has been meeting is not that which was appointed by resolution of the House.
An MPL, Anroux Marais, has participated in the discussions and decisions which the committee has reached thus far, when she was not appointed to the committee by the House. This calls into question the processes followed by the committee.
It is now a matter of public record that there are numerous instances where the DA has undermined due and proper process in the Provincial Legislature and the ANC will continue to resist efforts to undermine the Rules of the Legislature and belittle its independent role.
The Leader of the Opposition, Lynne Brown said "I have written to the Speaker, Mr. Esau to recommend that the meeting of the Ad-Hoc committee scheduled for tomorrow be postponed until these matters are resolved by the House
