Today, the Africa National Congress (ANC) concluded a successful two days
Political Education National Strategy Workshop that was held from 14-15
October 2009.
ANC Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe and Secretary General, Gwede
Mantashe addressed the gathering aimed at facilitating the establishment of
the ANC Political School. The Political School will be an autonomous
institutional centre whose primary mission is to serve the ANC and broader
democratic movement by building political, ideological, academic and
technical capacity of cadres of the movement and leadership collectives.
The Political School will run on a formal and professional basis, offering
accredited courses covering all areas of ANC work such as ideological
development and political consciousness, policy analysis and public
management, technical organisational and party building skills including
development and community outreach work in practice.
It will also offer winter and summer schools at provincial and national
level to develop selected cadres and those who perform well at the branch
level. It will also offer 52-week distance learning course.
The first course would be ready in November 2009 and the roll-out at all
levels of the ANC constitutional structures will take place in 2010.
