The African National Congress (ANC) welcomes and accepts fully the showing of remorse by its National Spokesperson, Cde Jackson Mthembu.
Reflective of a kind of leadership we yearn for, today (24 March 2010) at the Wynberg Magistrates Court in Cape Town, Cde Jacskon pleaded guilty for his infringement of the country's traffic laws and he apologized to the ANC, his family and to all South Africans. Mthembus apology comes after the ANC National Executive Committee accepted his apology at its sitting last week.
Cde Jacksons ordeal will surely go a long way in educating all of us to observe the traffic laws of our country. As he already made a call to all of us to disengage from drinking and driving, the ANC would like to appeal to all South African not to drink and drive during this coming Easter holidays and beyond. May we ensure that we always observe the rules of the road so that we all arrive alive.
