The African National Congress (ANC) commends the South African Police
Service (SAPS) for deterring what could have been a cash in transit heist at
Kameeldrift, Pretoria yesterday.

The swift reaction by SAPS special task team and the air wing illustrates
police commitment to fight crime.

The ANC wishes a speedy recovery to the police officer who got injured on
duty defending the interest of the law abiding citizens of this country.

We call upon members of the community to help the police to intensify its
search for the arrest of the other three robbers who fled the scene.

Deepening the interaction with communities, civil society, business,
faith-based organisations and other spheres of government will make sure
that South Africa becomes unbearable for criminals.

The ANC will not allow criminals to prevent South Africa from fulfilling its
historic goal of improving the quality of life of all citizens and free the
potential of each person.
