The African National Congress (ANC) welcomes the appointment by the
President of Advocate Menzi Simelane as the new National Director for Public
Prosecutions (NPA).

Having served in the Department of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in
various capacities, Simelane brings to the NPA the necessary experience,
legal background and administrative skills to effectively lead the NPA in
the fight against crime.

The appointment will bring stability to one of the key arms of the criminal
justice system.

We wish him well on his new appointment and also thank Advocate Mokotedi
Mpshe for his contribution in strengthening the criminal justice system
during his tenure as acting head of the NPA.
