On 4 April 2012 the ANC’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC), acting in terms of the powers entrusted to it by the ANC Constitution, summarily suspended the membership of the applicant for a period of up to 30 days pending the institution of disciplinary proceedings against him arising out of certain public comments he made and which are set out in more detail below.
