As aid agencies warn more than 9-million people could be affected by a food crisis in East Africa, world leaders are failing to keep their 2009 promises to tackle the causes of chronic hunger and support farmers in the world’s poorest countries.

On the two-year anniversary of the L’Aquila commitments, which saw leaders promise to invest $22-billion in agriculture development, donors have only delivered a fifth of the money promised with just one year to go until the deadline. As well as neglecting their financial commitments the report found countries are not demonstrating the political will needed to prevent future food crises.
