The historic settlement between the ANC, AfriForum, TAU SA and Julius Malema, which was announced by the parties yesterday, were made an order of the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein today.

Yesterday, the parties to the controversial hate speech lawsuit against Julius Malema announced that they reached a settlement under which the ANC and Malema admitted that the lyrics of some struggle songs are hurtful and they undertook to encourage and guide their supporters and leaders to refrain from the use of lyrics that can be experienced as hurtful.

The parties also committed to a continued formal dialogue with a view to improve mutual understanding of the respective cultural heritages and aspirations of cultural groups they represent.
