AfriForum’s legal team is ready to oppose the Zimbabwean government’s planned appeal in the Constitutional Court, regarding the registration of a finding of the SADC Tribunal.
Zimbabwe’s attorney-general, Johannes Tomana announced that the Zimbabwean government will approach the Constitutional Court about the registration of an order of the SADC Tribunal which cleared the way for an auction of Zimbabwean property in Cape Town to satisfy a debt owed to former owners of farms in Zimbabwe.

AfriForum’s legal representative, Willie Spies said in response that the Zimbabwean farmers’ legal team is all set to defend the case in the Constitutional Court. “We will approach the attorneys of the Zimbabwean government as well as the registrar of the Constitutional Court with a request to hear the application for leave to appeal on an urgent basis, to obtain legal certainty of the matter before the end of the year,” Spies said.
