AfriForum Youth today laid a charge of intimidation and incitement of violence against ANC Youth League (ANCYL) deputy president, Ronald Lamola, at the Brooklyn Police Station in Pretoria, after he had threatened farmers to co-operate with land reform, or else run the risk of violent land invasions.

“The ANCYL does not deserve a place in South Africa if the organisation wants to make such statements. Not only are such statements criminal, but they are also immoral and racist. The Youth League incites violence and demonstrates that the ANC’s culture of violence is becoming inhuman,” Charl Oberholzer, AfriForum Youth’s National Chairman said.

“It is clear that the ANCYL has renounced reconciliation and rather prefers to act with hatred towards fellow citizens.

“AfriForum Youth hopes to achieve justice with this charge against Ronald Lamola because statements that instigate hatred have a ripple effect on communities, and sow further division,” Oberholzer says.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) indicated that the charge would be processed as soon as possible and that a case number would be issued soon.
