"The ACDP is shocked by government's granting of VIP protection to Julius Malema, who we believe does not deserve it. We see this as another wasteful and reckless expenditure by a government that lacks character and integrity when it comes to their unwise spending of taxpayers' money.
The ACDP will quiz the police ministry on the reported statement that "every South African is entitled to apply for VIP protection". We want to know whether a citizen who provokes and insults others, as Malema does on a few occasions can also apply for VIP protection, when there's a reaction from those who were insulted.
We believe Malema needs training in how to respect others, particularly the elderly and those he disagrees with.
The R300.000 a month of taxpayers' money to protect an abusive and disrespectful person can never be justified, unless, of course if it is in defence of a prominent leader of the ANC.
The ACDP believes the R3, 6m a year that has been granted for Malema's VIP protection can be better utilized to improve service delivery and build more houses for the poor".
