The South African Communist Party in Lizo Nkonki District cautiously welcomes the long awaited guilty finding by the Public Protector against the Western Cape MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Mr. Anton Bredelle for breaching the Executive Code of Ethics which obliges members of the executive to conform to the prescribed Ethical standards at all times.

The SACP in the District feels vindicated in this regard since this has been our long standing view and concern that MEC Bredelle had been interfering with the administration of all Municipalities in the District for purposes of benefitting of his Party (The DA) through interference in the Supply Chain tender processes, dishing out of patronage through appointment of friends and family members of DA members and Councillors.

The Party is of a strong view that the MEC also used his office to threaten those opposed to his plan and who dares his illegal instructions through ordering illegal Hawks raids including the famous section 106 investigations which have seen no positive results nor could their concocted findings stand any court challenge as they were all without substance and Frivolous.

The Party cautiously welcomes these developments for the reason that, we do not believe that Premier Alan Winde has the political will to mute any appropriate sanction against Bredelle since he himself has dismally failed to act when this very matter was brought to his attention, long before it landed on the table of the Public Protector with sufficient proof provided to him yet he blatantly ignored our calls to act and as such, the Party has been calling for investigation of both Premier Winde and MEC Bredelle for exactly the same reasons.

The South African Communist Party is of the firm view that, expecting the Premier to act appropriately against MEC Bredelle would be like asking a thief to investigate themselves and expect a positive finding and therefore, our take is that, this matter should be escalated to the National office of cooperative governance for further investigations of other allegations as contained in our initial complaint and these will include the following amongst other things:

1. Failure of Premier Winde to act against members of the executive for transgressing various provisions in the code of ethics

2. The abuse of power and manipulation of the Southern Cape Hawks by Bredelle to instill fear amongst those opposed to his illegal instructions.

3. Irregular appointments and patronage to DA Councillors family members in the form of children, relatives even wives by being appointed in the Municipality of George.

Lastly, the racial all whites composition of the DA's Executive and Mayoral Committee only mixed with a few black puppets is a clear indication that the DA’s intention is determined to make our city a whites only city that only services white areas and all townships are left in a state of decay and this as the SACP we will challenge until justice has been realized by all citizens of our city equally.
