Rand Water has scheduled work at its Mapleton Booster Pumping Station to repair the delivery valve and scour valve on the 20th of July 2022. The 22-hour project will commence from 06h00 until 04h00 the next day. During this period, the pumping of water at the Mapleton Booster Station will be reduced from 730 million litres per day to 330 million litres per day.
In terms of the communication protocol, Rand Water has formally notified the municipalities that would be affected. The notices were issued 21-days in advance to allow for appropriate contingency plans. Rand Water has also advised its customers to fill their reservoirs to minimise the possible water supply shortages to communities.
