National Treasury will host a media lock-up on the day of the tabling of the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) on Wednesday, 28 October 2020. The lock-up affords media an opportunity to interact with the mid-term budget documents under embargo. However, due to the Coronavirus and social distancing regulations, the lock-ups will take a slightly different shape for the 2020 MTBPS.
ACCESS TO MTBPS LOCK-UPS
Cape Town
There will be limited access to the lock-up. Only Parliamentary Press Gallery Association (PPGA) members who have offices in Parliament (100 Plein Street) will be accepted into lock-up.
Pretoria
The Pretoria lock-up will have limited space which can accommodate 40 journalists. Confirmation of attendance will be on the first-come-first-served basis due to COVID-19 regulations and space limitations. Each media house will be permitted one representative to participate in the lock-up.
The lock-up times will be from 08:00 – 14:00 in both Cape Town and Pretoria.
Kindly RSVP with Malehlohonolo Kasa on Malehlohonolo.Kasa@treasury.gov.za. The closing date to RSVPs for all lock-ups is midday on Monday, 26 October 2020.
MEDIA BRIEFING
A virtual media briefing will be held after the tabling of the MTBPS. Other logistical arrangements for both the lock-ups and media briefing will be communicated early next week.
